Lauded as the Wireless Group’s “best performing studio” in terms of acoustics and functionality, this purpose-built, state-of-the-art broadcasting studio in City Quays 2 (Belfast) has signalled a modern new era for U105 – one of Northern Ireland’s leading radio stations. Totalling £1.4m, and designed and constructed in just 18 weeks, the project also featured the creation of office space, incorporating meeting rooms and staff areas, for U105 and digital businesses Tibus and Zesty.
Representing our third Belfast City Quays commission, following the completion of flawless Category A and B work for Baker McKenzie and Cayan, this 10,500 sq ft project comprised of the complete fit-out of the seventh floor of the nine-storey City Quays 2 building.
Centred on the design and build of the new U105 broadcasting facility, the scheme also required the completion of office and meeting room space, an I.T/transmission room, ceilings and partitions, M&E installations, flooring, decorations and furniture.
Achieving the industry-leading acoustic performance of the studio demanded the exploration of a suite of design options.
As such, we employed an acoustic consultant who worked in partnership with our team to conduct acoustic testing throughout the project.
Our success in creating the optimum conditions for the acoustic isolation, diffusion and absorption of reflected sound echoes has resulted in this studio being ranked as the “best performing” in the Wireless Group’s extensive portfolio – an organisation which boasts talkSPORT among its roster.
