Rohit Radhakrishnan, an aspiring Project Manager, recently completed a postgraduate placement on our Leeds Trinity University project with GRAHAM Interior Fit-Out. Originally from India, Rohit studied and worked in India before pursuing a master’s degree at Leeds Trinity University. He found himself back at the University campus applying his skills and gaining hands-on experience in a trainee Project Management role, arranged through a collaboration between GRAHAM and Forging Futures.
The Forging Futures Campus is a pioneering skills centre that provides trade and professional apprenticeships, employability skills training courses, as well as site visits and work experience for students and local people. Their vision is to help train Leeds’ future construction industry workers through apprenticeships and courses with hands-on work experience and mentoring support.
Our Interior Fit-Out division is the first to establish a partnership with Forging Futures, and our Building South division will continue to build on this collaboration, highlighting our ongoing commitment to social impact.
During this time, Rohit worked closely alongside Site Manager Joe Silson, gaining valuable insights into, and knowledge of, the project management process.
Reflecting on the experience, Rohit said:
“I am sincerely grateful to the entire team at GRAHAM for making my placement such a valuable experience. Working alongside talented professionals, I gained insights into project management, site management, and building services. The practical knowledge, guidance, and encouragement I received will undoubtedly benefit my future career. Thank you for making this opportunity so impactful and memorable.”
GRAHAM Head of Social Impact, Steven MacKinder, commented:
“We were delighted to work with Forging Futures and provide the opportunity for Rohit to gain valuable hands-on experience on the project. It can be challenging for people who have studied and gained experience in other countries to transition to similar employment in the UK. Placement opportunities such as this provide real social impact, by enabling career progression and sustainable employment.”
