GRAHAM has reached a significant milestone in its net zero journey by achieving validation from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets. This recognition acknowledges that GRAHAM’s climate goals align with the latest climate science and support the objectives of the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5°C.
The SBTi is a globally recognized authority on corporate climate action, and their validation process is rigorous, ensuring that targets are both ambitious and achievable. GRAHAM joins a select number of companies within the construction sector that are working to the SBTi’s Corporate Net-Zero Standard and taking responsibility for climate action.
GRAHAM validated Science Based Targets
Andrew Bill, Group Chief Executive Officer at GRAHAM, commented:
“We are very proud to have our science-based net zero targets validated by SBTi. Whilst there is still much to do to address the urgency of the climate crisis, we are pleased to have demonstrated the effectiveness of our approach to the SBTi. This represents a key step for us within our ambition to transition our business to Net Zero, while delivering lasting impact to our clients and communities.”
Lianne Taylor, Head of Environmental Sustainability at GRAHAM, added:
“We are thrilled to be moving forward with our robust SBTi net zero targets. Aligning with the SBTi Corporate Net Zero Standard helps to ensure that our approach is credible, transparent, and science-based.”
To meet these ambitious targets, GRAHAM is implementing a range of innovative decarbonisation strategies, including:
- Reducing consumption of fossil fuels on construction sites via increased efficiency, use of new solutions and technologies, and alternative fuels.
- Sourcing renewable electricity.
- Collaboration, engagement, and training to assist in the transition toward net zero.
- Delivering future-proofed buildings and infrastructure for our clients.
- Reducing the carbon impact of the transport associated with our business.
- Supporting the value chain in reducing their GHG emissions.
- Refining and enhancing the methodology for collecting, tracking, and reducing emissions derived from all scope 3 sources.
- Prioritizing nature-based solutions.
- Maintaining external assurance of our approach via external verification to PAS 2080, Achilles Carbon Reduce, and the SBTi.
