Charterholme Development

Significant progress is being made on the Charterholme development for City of Lincoln Council, as we work towards the construction of the new bridge in early April 2025.

Following our appointment in September 2024, the ambitious project will deliver the access road and new vehicle and multi-user bridge over the railway line.

The project remains on track for completion by March 2026, with recent achievements, including;

  • Completion of the haul road and utility diversions.
  • Ongoing bulk earthworks to establish embankments.
  • Fabrication of bridge beams to prepare for installation.

Upcoming works include;

Eastern Access

  • Construction of the new junction off Tritton Road, along with Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) to manage stormwater runoff including ponds and drainage.

Western Access

  • Substructures for the beams are set to be complete in the next few weeks, preparing for the beam lift and bridge construction over the rail line in early April 2025.

Aidan Loughrey, Project Manager at GRAHAM commented:

“Progress is being made across all aspects of the project – which is great to see! With the upcoming bridge construction in early April, our focus will be on ensuring a seamless and efficient operation while minimising disruption to the local community”.

Cllr Joshua Wells, Portfolio Holder for Inclusive economic growth at City of Lincoln Council, said:

"The Charterholme development will bring high-quality housing, modern infrastructure, and sustainable public spaces to Lincoln. Progress is being made across all aspects of the Charterholme project, from the first homes to major infrastructure works.

“Keeping residents informed and fostering collaboration remain central to our approach, ensuring the long-term success of Charterholme for residents and stakeholders alike.”
