GRAHAM has been awarded the contract by Surrey County Council (SCC) to deliver critical improvements to the A320 north of Woking, a key infrastructure project funded through Homes England’s Housing Infrastructure Fund.

The scheme aims to increase capacity and improve traffic flow on the vital stretch of road between Chertsey and Ottershaw, unlocking future housing developments across Runnymede.

The A320 North of Woking scheme consists of major upgrades to four key junctions and two road connections and will introduce significant safety and accessibility enhancements, including wider footpaths and cycleways, enhanced pedestrian crossing points and better access to public transport. These improvements will ensure smoother traffic flow while promoting sustainable travel options for residents, cyclists, and pedestrians.

The contract has been awarded under the GEN 5 Southern Highways and Civils Framework.

Discussing the contract award, Gareth McLaverty, Project Director at GRAHAM, said:

"GRAHAM is delighted to be delivering this transformative scheme on behalf of Surrey County Council and Runnymede Borough Council. The A320 North of Woking project is a vital infrastructure investment that will not only improve safety and traffic flow but also unlock thousands of much-needed new homes in the region.

He added: “We look forward to playing our role in delivering this high-quality infrastructure scheme that will benefit both residents and businesses in the region for years to come."

Natalie Bramhall, Surrey County Council Cabinet Member for Property, Waste and Infrastructure' said:

“Those who drive on the A320 regularly will appreciate how busy this road is and how vital these improvements are to residents and businesses right along this key route.

“I am really pleased we have secured this contract with GRAHAM, and we can begin to deliver this long-awaited scheme.”
