The Chelmer Waterside Bridge project for Chelmsford City Council is gathering momentum, with the team making significant progress in the last few months.
With the project taking shape let’s look at what has been completed and the next stage of construction works.
➡ Completed the CFA piling for all structures
➡ Continued with Formed Reinforced Concrete works for all structure bases, abutments, and piers
➡ Dredged the river to allow marine access
➡ Installed the steel box bridge beams for south integral approach spans
➡ Installed the road drainage, attenuation tanks and formed a 5000m2 attenuation pond

The team will be starting to prepare for the next stages of works including:
- Continuing with FRC works to the project retaining walls and south approach deck
- Construction of the temporary crane pad to support the main crane which will install the bridge later in the year
- Delivery of the main bridge structural steel to site for welding
Once complete the new road and bridge will provide access to the new city centre neighbourhood, Chelmer Waterside - for regular project updates visit https://bit.ly/41YBHaq
